IMOR 2011

Gilles DESROCHES, Ottawa, Canada:
Thank you very much for this Master's meeting. I appreciated the presentations, the discussions and the choice of the location. I will do my best to attend the third edition. Thank you very much again.

Arthur GELTZER, East Providence, RI, USA:
The last meeting was a perfect antidote to our recent ASRS meetings which have become much too large, too expensive and too formal (especially the lack of frank discussion of the material presented), too family oriented and too expensive (even for a retinal surgeon) and most important too directed by the big Pharma companies. You can expect us at your next "club" meeting where ever it is. I actually learned more at this meeting than at the recent specialty society meeting. Thanks again for leading a spirited and very enjoyable as well as knowledge sharing meeting.

Frank KIBITTEL, Gersthofen, Germany:
Thank you for organizing this outstandig meeting in Cap Cana. It was the best meeting I ever attended, in terms of content, ambiance, the possibility to socialize with collegues !

Jeffrey LIPKOWITZ, Lawrenceville, NJ, USA:
I concur that this years meeting was superior to last years; both in location and facilities, and quality of presentations. It's rare to have a meeting whose size and attendees allow the high quality level of discussion and interchange of ideas. I look forward to the next one.

Jorge MITRE, Sao Paulo, Brazil:
The high level of the presentations and the discussions became the second International Master of Retina in Cap Cana very intersting adjoining to relaxion times.
The choice of location was very enjoyable, plus the splendid sun of the Carribean.

Thomas SEITZ, Eschweiler, Germany:
Really I enjoyed the IMOR congress. For me it was an absolute unique experience having a small group in relaxing atmosphere strongly interested on the topics of the meeting. Of course the venture was a great choice, but what I liked most was the atmosphere during the congress. Because of the small group most participants where directly involved into the discussions. Nobody was afraid to argue contrary opinions during the presentations. All thoughts were picked up and were discussed. From the exhibitor view I liked the direct contact with all the doctors and the possibility to discuss product details with everybody directly. Also the idea to place the booth inside the conference room was great. I was able to follow all presentations and pick up points later to discuss it with the presenting doctor or participating doctors. Hope the next year there will be the same congress as well.

Stephen SINCLAIR, Media, PA, USA:
Many thanks. I enjoyed the meeting immensely and learned much. At my (our) age, I have heard time and time again the results of trials, and I know the reasons behind the statistics that they are presenting, but it is only through the discussion from mentors such as yourself, Paul, Kang, etc. that I learn.

Manfred von FRICKEN, Great Falls, VA, USA:
I want to thank you personally for all of your efforts in the organization of a great meeting. I will do my best to be there next time. Again, I thoroughly enjoyed your presentations and continue to have a lingering "vacation" effect, although with our winter this is wearing off quickly. You articulated the physics of the peristaltic systems very well. I am also looking into the slit lamp system for the Zeiss Lumeris operating microscope. Until we get together again.

Keith A. WARREN, Overland Park, KS, USA:
I very much enjoyed the meeting in the Dominican. I was particularly impressed on your presentation regarding Flow Controlled vitrectomy, and I was very honored to be the first US Surgeon to speak on this topic at an international meeting. I am hopeful that my US colleagues soon recognize the advantages of flow control. I was hoping that I might be able to get a copy of your lecture and your wonderful analogies to better help my colleagues understand the principles of peristaltic flow. We Americans are stubborn creatures and remain subject to our capitalist ideals and sometimes as you observed, allow salesmen to cloud our knowledge and judgement. I enjoyed your at home physics lab experiments!!!! I would love to use them to help get the point across over here. I enjoyed the meeting and I am hopeful to get the chance to visit with you again in the future.
